BORDEAUX CONFIDENTIEL

Zone Blanche – Jean Rooble (2019)

EXHIBITIONS

This Jean Rooble exhibition titled "ZONE BLANCHE" took place at the Institut Bernard Magrez in Bordeaux. A magnified exploration of chiaroscuro. Jean Rooble plays with contrast, shadows, fields, depths and materials.

The effects are striking, the sensations pure and stunning. A modernized chiaroscuro, ultimately at odds with the classical symbolism, which tends to be more conservative.

Jean Rooble paints freehand, with a precise, confident gesture, which makes the performances all the more impressive.

Made only with spray cans, his works are stunningly realistic.

Why the name of this Jean Rooble Bordeaux exhibition called "ZONE BLANCHE"? He plays with the name given to those French dead zones where there's no phone or network connection, those famous blank spots where nothing gets through... staging connected and dependent people. Jean Rooble toys with our habits and our dependence on the screens that surround us... that devour us.
