The Wine Club

Estelle MAU aka C'est Madame qui choisit le Vin and Maxence Jacquot aka Maxence Wine meet around a wine club but not only! It's the meet for Bordeaux Business and relational encounters around a carefully picked venue and a trending winemaker. Both are passionate about wine from vine to glass as the punchline goes. Their Instagram accounts gather nearly 25,000 followers, novices or enthusiasts, following their adventures and unashamed takes on wine, vines, Bordeaux Châteaux and all of France.

This Club is open to all, don't fear getting lost in technical explanations! This club is a meeting place for people eager to discover new wine trends.

The winemaker: Maxime Saint Martin

For this 2nd edition, Maxime Saint Martin, known to both hosts through a Bordeaux Wines collaboration under Bordeaux Local, was chosen. So it's an already-tasted Château Graves de Pez cuvée that helped our two friends convince our young winemaker to join this must meetup, given the successful first edition last January at Le Petit Café Gambetta with Crémants Louis Vallon by Bordeaux Families.

Who is he?

Pure Medocain, Maxime Saint Martin spent his childhood in Lamarque before earning a viti-oeno BTS in 2007 in Blanquefort. He then joined his father on the family farm at Château Vieux Gabarey in Lamarque (AOC Haut Médoc - Cru artisan). A year later he became his own boss by buying his uncle's share in another family farm in Saint Estèphe. He was only 21 when he did his first harvest.

In 2015 he expanded his vineyard with Graves de Pez.

Did you say cru artisan?

In 2016 Maxime is also president of the Médoc Cru Artisans Union. A Cru Artisan is an appellation where the owner does everything and takes part in all work, from vine to wine, from sales to admin!

The venue: Le FIRSTNAME

Estelle was lucky to be invited to a press dinner for the opening of the new Hotel that opened January 11, located at the heart of Mériadeck in a 60s-70s building, a real architectural boldness, FirstName Bordeaux reveals a decor imagined by architect-decorator duo Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet.

Even the façade hits hard with those blue neons setting the tone. A beautiful staircase, a green wall... you feel the coming decor finesse. During the visit of the restaurant hall, standard rooms, suites with open bathrooms, Estelle ends up floored by the Speakeasy just hidden behind a wardrobe door, the one found in Alice in Wonderland! She said this is The Place to Be! Her dream: sit on the throne literally. No, Estelle isn't a queen.

The hotel doesn't need stars, except its bedding counts 5! for its 147 rooms. You'll have choice thanks to its 7 room ranges with eco-designed or recycled furniture and decor.

Firstname is the embodiment of « hospitality differently, FEEL GOOD hospitality » and that's why this venue was a must for the RDV de Madame & Max.
