BORDEAUX CONFIDENTIEL

The Chaban Delmas Bridge

MUST-SEE

The PONT CHABAN DELMAS is ideally located between the Pont de Pierre and the Pont d'Aquitaine.

It's in the extension of rue Lucien-Faure and connects Quai Bacalan to Quai Brazza (north of La Bastide).

Originally this bridge was called « Pont Bacalan-Bastide » and only on October 22, 2012 did the city council name it « Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas », a tribute to our former mayor.

3 years of intensive work and a revolutionary design make it a technically impressive bridge with no equal in France.

574 meters long and pylons rising to 77 meters high. The bridge's specialty?

Its deck. Unique. A single piece that rises and falls with the boats docking in Bordeaux.

Grandiose!

For its design it even won the 2014 international « Outstanding Engineering Projects » award.

See, it's not just a bridge. So next time you cross it, take the time to admire this bridge that is a monument in itself.
