On 18 December 2025, Place Gambetta welcomes a new address that does not go unnoticed: Le Paradis du Fruit opens its doors right in the heart of Bordeaux. Set on the site of the former Clemenceau, the venue marks a symbolic turn for this emblematic square, both a shopping crossroads and a breathing spot of the city centre. With nearly 386 sq m, a large dining room of 142 seats and a 64-cover terrace, Le Paradis du Fruit is not here to play second fiddle. It sets itself up as a « lifestyle » brasserie, thought out to accompany the rhythms of the day, morning to evening.
This opening is also a signal: it is the brand's first location in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Until now very present in Paris and several major French cities, the brand picks Bordeaux to keep growing, with around thirty jobs created. Place Gambetta, often in flux, thus confirms its status as an urban showcase where uses evolve as much as the brands.
Le Paradis du Fruit: a story that lasts (since 1982)
Founded in 1982 by Claude Louzon and his brothers, Le Paradis du Fruit rests on a simple but forward-thinking idea for the time: bring fruits and vegetables back to the centre of the plate, without giving up pleasure. Halfway between ice-cream parlour, juice bar and restaurant, the brand has built over the decades a recognisable identity, based on a Mediterranean, colourful and generous cuisine. Developed under franchise since 1985, the brand structured itself nationally, notably with the support of the Bertrand group, while keeping a very readable DNA: conviviality, sharing, and a so-called « natural » approach to cooking, without a moralising stance. Here, the word healthy does not exclude indulgence or generous portions. The visual universe fully takes part in the experience. Bold colours, warm materials, bright atmosphere: some restaurants of the brand were even designed in collaboration with Philippe Starck, which explains this instantly recognisable style, between permanent holiday and contemporary urban decor. In Bordeaux, this aesthetic finds a particular echo on a square where students, workers, tourists and regulars all cross paths.
An address thought out for every moment of the day (and that is really cool!)
What sets Le Paradis du Fruit apart is its ability to cover every dining moment. Vitamin-packed breakfast, quick lunch, weekend brunch, nostalgic afternoon snack, fruity aperitivo or dinner with friends: the menu is built to fit current urban uses.
The offer rests on a few clear pillars:
- Fruit and vegetable bar, freshly pressed juices, fruity cocktails with or without alcohol
- Highly visual bowls and desserts: açaí bowl, fruit salads, ice-cream cups
- Savoury dishes to build, grilled toasts, generous salads, revisited burgers, fish & chips, with clearly identified vegetarian and flexitarian options
- Owned-up indulgence: pancakes, XXL waffles, banana split, cheesecake… Pleasure is never set aside.
The venue is also meant to be family-friendly and accessible, with a kids' menu designed as a playful experience in its own right. This versatility explains why the brand is often seen as a rallying point: you can meet there to work in the morning, have lunch with colleagues, take a break after shopping or extend the evening before a movie.
With Le Paradis du Fruit, Bordeaux welcomes a national brand ticking several current boxes: more plant-based cooking, wide opening hours, a friendly and identifiable venue, without giving up a certain generosity at the table. On Place Gambetta, the arrival of this concept also reflects a shift in expectations: restaurants able to accompany daily life, rather than limiting themselves to a single moment. It now remains to be seen how Bordelais will make this new space their own. One thing is certain: between fresh fruit, a lively terrace and a large bright dining room, Le Paradis du Fruit shapes up as one of the new hubs of the city centre.
