But what is this strange device?

The ONEWHELL is one of those new soft transport modes in its own right, but much more. Straight from the US (Santa Cruz to be precise). A concentrate of technology and pure happiness!

According to Wikipedia, the ONEWHEEL is: « A single-wheel self-balancing recreational personal transporter, often described…blabla… ». Let me tell you, the ONEWHEEL is a genius toy!!!

It's 'almost' magic... Getting the hang of it is fairly easy, hop on, think forward and boom! It moves... Almost! You feel the designers' will to get an accessible, reliable product providing maximum fun. The ONEWHELL is strongly inspired by the glide sensations skate, surf or snowboard offer. Equipped with a powerful electric motor and a homemade auto-stabilization system, the board responds instinctively. Control is intuitive and glide sensations come immediately. Pure happiness.

The beast's motor is at the wheel center and packs reactive enough electronics to help you keep perfect balance. A big battery joins in and ensures satisfying kilometers, enough to have fun without checking the gauge every 2 minutes.

Prices?

Depending on the version you pick, prices go from €1,300 to nearly €3,000 for the most powerful version with all accessories. Yes it can seem pricey, but I often compare with scooters and electric bikes, same price bracket. So rather well placed price-wise. Plus fun!

bordeaux confidentiel's take on the onewheel, from XR to GT

After a few years on an XR version of this board, I moved to the GT and it's ALWAYS the same pleasure!!!!

No car, no bike, no scooter… BUT I HAVE A ONEWHEEL!

As a fan of everything that rolls, this incredible device has no competition. Sensations are crazy and immediately smile-inducing, you sometimes get too confident and 'the fall' isn't far, but staying reasonable, you cover kilometers without particular incident.

Of course good gear stays required, gloves, helmets... and more if you want... Then, the fun is yours!
