If you thought a marathon meant only stopwatches, performance and sweat, get ready to change your mind! On Saturday September 6, 2025, the Marathon du Médoc returns to Pauillac for a new edition that promises to be even wilder. Between sport, wine, gastronomy, costumes and supercharged atmosphere, it's without a doubt the craziest marathon in the world. And this year, the theme is clear: « The Sea ». Bring out your creativity, your marine costume and get ready for an unforgettable experience.
A marathon unlike any other
The Marathon du Médoc is a legend. Every year, nearly 8,500 runners from 75 countries take off from the Pauillac quays to cover 42.195 km through the prestigious Médoc vineyards. But watch out: here, no rushing head-down without looking up.
Along the route, you cross more than 40 wine châteaux, you stop at stands that aren't quite « classic »: oysters, ribeye, cheeses, ice cream… without forgetting of course the 20 wine tastings dotting the road. Yes, you read that right: you can run AND taste. That's the Médoc spirit!
The 2025 theme: « The Sea »
Every edition has its theme, and all runners must come in costume. In 2025, it'll be The Sea. Expect to cross paths with pirates, mermaids, freshwater sailors and maybe even some giant fish darting between the vines.
That's one of the great pleasures of the Marathon du Médoc: participants' creativity. More than a race, it's an athletic carnival, a huge costumed party where laughter and good mood matter as much as the miles logged.
The program: two days of party
The Marathon du Médoc isn't just a race, it's a full weekend of activities:
Friday September 5
- Bib pickup from 10 am to 11 pm at the COSEC in Pauillac.
- Opening of the Village Expo, with activities, tastings and festive vibe.
- In the evening: a big party to kick off the festivities.
Saturday September 6
- 9:30 am: race start on the Pauillac quays.
- 42.195 km of racing through châteaux and vines.
- 22 refueling stops and more than 55 musical and gourmet activities: oysters, ribeye, cheeses, ice cream…
- 20 wine tastings along the whole route.
- A grand finale, in an atmosphere worthy of the biggest festivals.
👉 Time limit to finish: 6h30. Suffice to say there's plenty of time to enjoy!
How to sign up?
Registration opens: early March 2025, exclusively online on the official site.
Price: €100 incl. tax per bib.
Conditions: 20 years old completed (born before September 6, 2005).
Required docs: a PPS (Health Prevention Route) certificate, to be done after June 6, 2025, will be required to validate your registration.
Group registration: possible from 2 people, with 14 days to complete each file after payment.

The 2025 Marathon du Médoc is much more than a sporting event: it's a giant party where runners and spectators meet to share a moment unique in the world.
