This is Le M.U.R de Bordeaux, a space dedicated to street art, where you can see creation live, discover artists from around the world... and even talk with them.

Behind this slightly mysterious name - M.U.R for Modulable, Urbain, Réactif - lies a giant 35 m² canvas, on place Paul et Jean-Paul Avisseau, in the heart of Chartrons.
Since 2014, this wall has evolved every month with the creativity of one artist. The idea? Offer a legal, free, visible space to all, where artists can express themselves without constraint. Le M.U.R de Bordeaux isn't a frozen fresco: it's a living stage, a playground for street art talents.
Spray cans, collage, stencils, inks, acrylics... every technique finds its place here. And every visit brings a different surprise.
A story of passion and freedom
Le M.U.R was born in September 2014, driven by the Pôle Magnetic association. Their goal: bring urban art into Bordeaux daily life, no barrier, no ticket, no filter. Jef Aérosol, a major figure of French street art, opened the wall with a strong, poetic piece. Since then, dozens of artists have left their mark.
You can spot big names like:
- Monkeybird, Bordeaux duo blending finesse and symbolism
- Lady M, with her engaged, poetic worlds
- Dino Voodoo, for an explosive, colorful style
- Speedy Graphito, pioneer of the movement
- Or Royal Béton, for a raw, urban approach
Every month, a new fresco erases the previous one, creating an ephemeral open-air exhibition.
The Chartrons quarter, an arty and vintage setting
It's no accident that Le M.U.R settled in Chartrons. A former stronghold of wine merchants, the neighborhood reinvented itself. Today it mixes 18th-century buildings, hip cafés, vintage antique dealers and contemporary art galleries.
And above all, it overflows with urban art. A real street art trail awaits you if you stroll around rue Notre-Dame, the Jardin Public or rue du Faubourg des Arts. Le M.U.R is just the gateway to an open-air cultural walk.

One piece a month: a blank page every time
Every month, an artist is invited by Galerie Magnetic (almost across from the M.U.R) to take over the wall. It's a kind of express residency, « carte blanche » style. The artist proposes a visual, a mood, an intention... then comes to paint the piece directly on the wall, fully honoring their style.
👉 Result: every fresco is unique, designed specifically for the space, and visible for about 30 days. A great way to discover talents from Bordeaux, France, or even abroad.
And if you swing by two months later... you'll see nothing of the previous fresco. It will have been painted over, like an urban palimpsest.
Live creation: street art in real time
One of the most exciting moments is the live creation. Generally the artist is on site for 1 to 3 days, especially at the weekend. You can come watch the piece take shape before your eyes, and you don't get that chance every day!
The sound of spray cans, the smell of inks, the artist's gestures... it all creates an immersive vibe. You become a spectator of the creative process, open-air, no filter. And often, artists are super accessible, ready to chat, explain, share.
Little tip: if you see barriers around the M.U.R, some activity, or a stepladder lying around... something's being prepared. Swing by!
Public opening: a moment not to miss
Every new piece is celebrated at an opening, usually the Saturday after creation. It's free, friendly and open to all.
