BORDEAUX CONFIDENTIEL

At the corner of Poquelin and Ruat, you will find "Horace" (@horace.cafe). Right from the front door, the program is set, do not say I did not warn you: coffee.food.knockouts.

Their food and their coffee are killer… KILLERISSIMO even!

Whether the croques on the menu or the daily specials, Horace is one of those canteens that delight my taste buds with always spot-on and tasty seasoning, and my eyes with colourful, harmonious dishes. Even the most basic dish gets twisted in a cool, indulgent way while staying super easy to digest. It is more than good, Wonder Foodie's word, and the influences mixing on your plate blow you away.

I forgot, recently they even started offering "take away".

On the vibe and decor side, it is top.

The vibe first: at Horace, no fuss. The foodies range from 3 to 100 years old. The team is efficient, precise. Like part of the clientele, they do not overthink things. They are friendly and you feel good quickly.

The decor. OK, decor is not everything. But you will agree that feeling good matters a lot. Personally, I love the little room on the right as you enter and the one at the back. The beautiful Bordelais walls are highlighted by design pendant lights, mismatched comfy wooden Scandinavian-style chairs, tables for two, for 4, for more. You are well at Horace. So well that there is often a wait. No booking possible. Unless you want to take away. You will get Horace's flavours at the corner of your desk or at home, in the same generous portions, I promise, having tested it with the squid-ink bun.

Oh and I forgot: at Horace, you will find quite crazy pastries with… glitter! Special mention for the lemon cake and the carrot cake.
