A hidden treasure
The Hospitality of Saint-Jacques (which became a church in the 15th century), dating from 1120, has for far too long been threatened by time (and by a few developers…).
This « forgotten » church is almost invisible from the outside of rue Mirail.
It has never enjoyed formal protection from the authorities, although since the @collectif1120 led by academic Guilhem Pépin has helped shift positions at the DRAC (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs) among others.
A threatened heritage
Having moved from hospital to church, then from theatre to plain car park, this monument is today clearly under threat. Not only from the wear of time, but also from developers who see in this building only a plot of land perfectly placed in the heart of our city.
