You probably often walk past the gate of the Municipal Archives, rue du Loup… And beyond the foliage of the famous wisteria you can see, you may wonder what secrets are hiding there? (I mean the place, not the foliage, okay?).
Let me tell you a bit more…
This place holds a curious collection of lapidary items (texts carved in stone).
When this majestic 17th-century building was constructed, its architect (Jacques D'Welles) wanted to make a strong statement by embedding several carved stones into the outer wall.
You can see there, among other things, a rare depiction of the Palais d'Orsay carved in Carrara marble.
