On May 23, 2024, Bordeaux will be the stage for an exceptional event: the Olympic flame relay. This highlight of the Paris 2024 Olympics promises to gather Bordelais around Olympism's values and celebrate our shared heritage.
The flame route will begin on the Garonne's right bank and cross several iconic city spots before ending on the left bank (plan your movements... Even move your vehicle...). Among the route highlights, the passage through the famous water mirror, where the flame will reflect in this Bordeaux iconic spot.
The relay will successively cross different cities of our lovely Aquitaine:
- Saint-Emilion
- Libourne
- Le Bouscat
- Mérignac
- Pessac
- Bordeaux
- Lormont
- Cenon

To ease movements and ensure everyone's safety, a mobility plan was set by Bordeaux Métropole (available here). It's recommended to prefer public transport and check traffic changes planned for this special day.
Activities and Festivities
Throughout the day, various activities will be organized around the flame route. These festivities include artistic performances, sports activities and Olympic info stands. A unique chance for Bordelais to live the Olympic spirit and actively join this historic event.
The Olympic flame relay is much more than a mere sports event. It symbolizes unity, peace and friendly competition spirit characterizing the Olympics. Watching the flame pass, you'll be part of a global celebration highlighting respect, excellence and solidarity values.
And you'd want to miss such an event? Ah... I was scared... ?
