How to sum up such a place?
DARWIN is first and foremost a concept, an idea, a real innovation nursery in an endearing setting of reuse and reclamation of what already exists.
Set up in place of a former military barracks of nearly 20,000 m², Darwin offers visitors an eclectic, creative environment. You'll find an organic store, a restaurant, a giant skatepark, a coworking space.
It's a mini-city geared to the green economy, open to all. A place for events and meetings, Darwin opens its heart from the first steps.
But it's also a threatened space. The city's transformation, its extensions, the new real estate projects shaping its face, are all reasons that make the value of the Darwin space, and of the land it stands on, important to a number of developers.
In time… this space will likely be gradually vampirized… The future will tell. In the meantime, projects abound: eco-responsible hostel with rooftop café, pop-up radio station, campus, housing… and Darwin is looking for new youth to avoid its outright disappearance.
