COURS DE L'INTENDANCE is without any doubt the most beautiful avenue in Bordeaux.
Rightly or wrongly, it's fairly easy to compare this avenue with the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. All proportions kept, this avenue has become, in a few years, "the place to be".
That's how stores and other shops would gladly sell their souls to land a storefront on this magnificent avenue.
In the 50s, Bordelais preferences leaned more toward Cours Clemenceau; in the 80s this artery was somewhat 'snubbed' and traffic there was heavy. It took the tram's return in 2004 to give this avenue back its former shine and turn it into one of the most coveted streets for luxury boutiques and other shops that want a « gavé » Bordeaux-style visibility.
It's also an open-air exhibition spot, a meeting space where art, strollers and some of Bordeaux's finest shops cross paths.
