Château Castera: A step into History

CHATEAUX

Few wine regions in the world are as prestigious as Médoc Bordeaux. This region hosts some of the world's most famous vineyards, including Château Lafite Rothschild or Château Margaux. Château Castera proudly occupies this region and needn't blush at this prestigious competition, so magnificent are its history, wines and estate.

We discovered Château Castera in the Médoc vineyard over a weekend and we're telling you all!

Château Castera

Few things in this world are as classically French as a château. The word evokes images of hills, lordly residences and, of course, wine. Château Castera is one example: located in Médoc France, this estate produces wine and its vines have been known and recognized since the 14th century (one of the oldest Médoc châteaux). The estate covers 185 hectares including 63 hectares of vines.

This château's history is unique given how many events took place. From feudalism to today, its history passed through notorious celebrity hands: the Arsac Family (renowned for 14th century wine exports), Étienne de La Boétie (renowned humanist, Bordeaux Parliament advisor) and Michel de Montaigne's friend, Thomas de Montaigne (yes Michel's brother) or the Marquis de Verthamon... A rich, unique history that fed Château Castera vineyard's renown and development.

An original estate discovery

Other discovery formulas on offer

And that's not all: different formulas are offered to discover and enjoy this place: picnic on the grass, country walk, gourmet walk... Plenty to enjoy and discover an incredible place!

The wines

Excellent! Fruit of constant production and vinification improvement, their wines from the 4 major Bordeaux grapes (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot) give wines of surprising aromatic complexity: black fruits, spices and a full, persistent mouth with fine tannins.

Each glass is a moment out of time where you surrender to the moment's intoxication.

In weekend mode, discovering Château de Castera is a charming idea. History, estate, cellars, wines... All gathered here to give you an exquisite moment. Thanks to Château Castera for welcoming us.
