BORDEAUX CONFIDENTIEL

Brasserie Liber, between French tradition and Spanish accents (we tested it for you!)

RESTAURANTS

Brasserie Liber sits right in the centre of Bordeaux, on the busy rue Georges Bonnac. You walk in like you walk into a home that smells of conviviality: cosy banquettes, a warm decor with South-West touches, and in good weather a small discreet terrace (bright and relaxed atmosphere), with all the codes of a Parisian brasserie brought together. The staff welcome you with a smile, no fuss, and the atmosphere is immediately reassuring and authentic, even before you've picked up your first spoon.

Bon appétit!

The cuisine is of the comforting kind: you recognise a good French brasserie, with classic preparations (homemade country terrine, duck confit, pork loin), but with no repetition, because every dish is thought out with a small touch of Spanish inspiration, like the razor clams persillade or cocktails made with local vermouth and improvised tapas.

Among the signatures, impossible to miss the braised lamb shoulder, slow-cooked, spiced just right, served with potato croquettes, a real small joy in every bite (22 € on the menu). The chef also serves a mac 'n cheese with confit beef, a revisited nod to the South-West, or old-style confit duck leg with homemade fries.

Impossible too to ignore the profiteroles or the Liber churros: the first dessert is airy and generous at once (about 9 €), the second pays tribute to the venue's Iberian soul, crispy, with a homemade chocolate sauce that holds its own.

The customers are the ones speaking best of it, with a 4.8/5 rating on TripAdvisor. This endearing brasserie unites everyone around the quality of its welcome: customers and professionals alike praise its value for money, its choice of fresh produce and a listening staff.

« Top! Good value for money. Nice staff. Simple, excellent cooking. Cosy setting… »
« Best food I ever had!! The chicken and lamb were very tender… »

The cooking is excellent, the plates well presented, portions generous without excess, and on timing: unhurried but smooth service. The team seems well drilled, ready to recommend a light wine or adjust a cooking, a real hosting comfort our team particularly appreciated.
