What's a comedy club?

A comedy club is a place dedicated to live humor: comedians follow one another on stage for sketches, stand-up, improvisations or short performances. The vibe is often intimate, relaxed, close to the audience. The setting isn't a classic theater: bars, small stages, raised glasses, shared laughter… everything favors closeness between artist and spectator.

While humor comes in many forms (one man show, charades, satire, etc.), the comedy club offers a discovery space: new talents test their material, confirmed artists build ties, nights mix styles, audiences, emotions.

What makes EMJY Comedy Club in Bordeaux special

The EMJY Comedy Club at L'Empire stands out in Bordeaux's humor landscape for several reasons:

  • A varied, balanced line-up. The plateau combines artists with different styles: from Donel Jacksman's humorous elegance, to Élodie Arnould's colorful sincerity, through Hugo Tout Seul's web-to-stage passage, or the promises of Morgane Meli and Chiara Gaso. This diversity reaches a wide audience: fine humor fans, spontaneity fans, or rawer moment fans.
  • Two shows the same night. Programming two shows (7:30 pm and 9 pm) the same day offers options: those who want to dine first, those coming directly… and it creates back-to-school tension, a stronger buzz.
  • Locality & Bordeaux vibe. The EMJY Comedy Club isn't just a show venue: it's part of the local scene. L'Empire is a place known to Bordelais, imbued with warmth. This closeness gives a special flavor: you don't just come see a show, but find faces, live a shared moment with loved ones, feel humor as a link.
  • Frequency & regularity. The event being recurring (September 24, October 22, November 26, etc.) shows a will to sustain this form of entertainment. It builds loyalty, installs a humor tradition at L'Empire, which isn't always the case with one-off shows.
  • Promotion & community involvement. The EMJY Comedy Club plays on social media distribution, audience engagement ("you'll find the poster", "sharing is helping"), which creates complicity even before the curtain rises. That's part of what makes the experience more personal.
