For once, I'm taking you to Pointe aux Chevaux…
Yes I know, weekend traffic jams, tourists…
But not just that! Like it or not, Pointe aux Chevaux and "Le Fèèèrraiiiiiiiii" always offer a fabulous show.
It's no coincidence that half of Bordeaux heads there on sunny weekends.
Anyway, on a little stroll on the point, we crossed a sign posted on a cabin in Petit Piquey: Chez Ghislain.
A truly successful Vaudeville/Glamour blend.
So without hesitation, we went in to see what was going on.
The discovery
A small alley between two cabins leads to an incredible terrace.
Set on the water, this ensemble (all clad in wood) instantly makes you want to sit down and enjoy a timeless moment.
So we plopped down and ordered two dozen medium oysters, some whelks with Espelette pepper, a plate of plump prawns, Basque pâtés and a little Entre-Deux-Mers to wash it all down (we were peckish, I admit…).
I'm not going to circle the ring road 3 times to tell you what it's like.
It was seriously good! Even the bread from Boulangerie Chez Pascal was still warm (for the pâté and mopping the aïoli, that's a must).
Everything was perfect.
So we stayed a while enjoying the terrace and the moment.
The encounter
And of course, one thing leading to another, we chatted with the owner.
A passionate one! This man has had several lives and his new one led him to become an oyster farmer.
A real "character", a personality you could listen to for a long time.
That's what we did, by the way 😉
Thanks again to Olivier and his little team. Can't wait for the next escape.
