A building that had several uses
After World War I, two major factors pushed the Chamber of Commerce to expand (the Maritime Federation's lease expiring & the upcoming creation of the Autonomous Port).
In 1921, under Eugène Lacombe's vision and leadership, a reproduction of the central pavilion of the Bourse on Place Gabriel was undertaken.
Once completed, they realized the building and its layout weren't practical for administrative use, so the building was sold to the Société civile centrale de Monceaux in 1980.
That's how the Maritime Federation moved its offices there.
THE MASKS OF BORDEAUX THAT MAGNIFICENTLY ADORN THIS BUILDING
On its front, you'll see two mascarons representing the faces of the first two presidents of the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux (Georges Barres and Étienne Huyard).
Today its activity is still there, the maritime exchange is still very active and based in this building along the Port de la Lune.
