A thousand-year-old property

Château du Tertre has a unique history: a thousand-year-old property whose 52-hectare vineyard remained unchanged since 1855. Wines produced at Château du Tertre gained world renown in 1855 thanks to the Grand Cru Classé Margaux ranking.

In 1997, the property was bought by a Dutch businessman making heavy investments to renovate the château and restore its character and nobility. In 2021, the Helfrich family took over, bought the château and continued its History by opening it to the public since before it was a family property.

Today Château du Tertre presents a magnificent building, an orangery, a fabulous pool, a park, a winery... Château du Tertre offers many spaces optimized for their intended use. Well done and each visit is exceptionally rich.

An exceptional terroir

We're talking about Margaux terroir, more precisely the highest point of Margaux terroirs (26 meters, yes we're not talking Everest here) sitting on a Tertre (small isolated flat-topped earth rise), hence the château's name. Margaux terroirs bathe in sun, light and offer nourishing, unique specifics for producing a full, powerful wine. Sheltered from water excess and drought, this exceptional terroir today produces one of the world's best wines.

Simple: sleeping in this thousand-year-old château, you take a bit of History with you. You become the lord or lady of an evening, a night... Sheltered from view, you're plunged into a unique, authentic vibe.

Each room has its own personality. In the heart of its vineyard, Château du Tertre offers a view over these magnificent vines. Calm is part of the place, it's beautiful, rooms are large, bathrooms are refined... Frankly, we'd have gladly spent our holidays there!

Room decoration is truly elegant. Of course you'll find Wifi and a TV, but frankly in this place, we easily do without...

And breakfast?

Superb! A continental breakfast is offered every morning and can be served in the dining room with exposed beams. You feel it! After a good restful night, a breakfast like this is devoured in an instant.

WHAT ABOUT ACTIVITIES ON OFFER?

Château du Tertre offers tours by appointment only. You'll discover the château's history, tour the property, the cellars and finish with a tasting. Having done it, we were seduced by the place, the tour's rhythm and the elegance with which our one-day guide immersed us in the château's universe (thanks Camille!).
