Territoires Imaginés, a South-West puzzle

Waroox builds his landscapes the way an architect assembles his plans. Telescoped fragments, drawn from the imaginary of the South-West, land in the same frame without asking permission. The vignettes free themselves from any reading logic, the composition invents its own freedom, the visual language flirts with fantasy. You look at a canvas, you think you recognise a strip of dune, a gable, a bay, and the whole thing takes off toward something else.

The colours bathe in a solar light, direct, no timid nuance. The black outlines give the motifs an immediate presence, the same readability you already know from his walls. Each perspective becomes an anchor point: a place you have never seen, and yet something familiar wakes up. An instant, a memory, an emotion. That is where Territoires Imaginés makes sense: not postcards, but inner landscapes taking the shape of outer ones.

Waroox's path

Born in 1988 on the island of La Réunion, where he grew up, Waroox discovered art through graffiti, which he started practising in the early 2000s in the streets of Réunion. He then left his home island for a design and graphic-arts school in Australia, where he quickly built connections in the painting scene and emerged through an anglo-saxon prism, with urban and alternative influences.

After his studies, Waroox settled in Paris and exhibited in known venues: the Halle Saint Pierre museum in Montmartre, the Slow Galerie, and already in Bordeaux via Galerie Imagine. He multiplied artistic battles and collaborative charity shows, notably with the Fab (agnès b. foundation) and the Yann Arthus-Bertrand foundation. Two projects that show his commitment to engaged causes, both social and environmental.

The sequence took him to Dubai, where he expressed himself for the first time internationally at the Street Art Gallery, before stringing together artist residencies across Europe: Florence, Portugal, Cape Verde. Waroox works in every format: canvases, murals, castings, workshops, performances, auctions. Recently, he moved his studio to the Basque Country, in the south-west of France, where he draws on this new environment to create and answer public, private and individual commissions. The canvases shown at Galerie Magnetic carry the direct trace of this south-western framing.
